British Independent Film Awards Announce 2014 Dates

This morning organisers for the Moët British Independent Film Awards announced that this year’s awards cermoney will take place on Sunday, December 7th. With the announcement of nominations taking place on Monday, November 3rd. The announcement comes as the awards have opened their film submissions for 2014 contention.

The awards created and hosted by Raindance, as well as opening the european award season also recognise the achievements in the industry of independent british made feature and short films. The ceremony has captured the attention of Hollywood’s brightest stars since it partnered with Moët knowen by legendary actors, actresses, producers and directors which have celebrated their achievements with Moët & Chandon, lead sponsors of the awards for the last several years, at the most significant and exclusive cinema events, including the Oscars & Golden Globes celebrations.

Last years awards showcased a selection of incredible British talent and filmmaking from Sean Ellis’s Metro Manila, which collected three awards including Best British Independent Film, to the Best Actor and Actress winners James McAvoy and Lindsay Duncan, winning awards for their portrayals in Filth and Le Weekend. Previous winners of the prestigious Best British Independent Film award include Tyrannosaur, The Kings Speech, Slumdog Millionaire, The Constant Gardner and This Is England. The awards which have now entered their 17th year are expected to be taking place at the same venue as last years awards, The Old Billingsgate. However, this is not currently confirmed.

Joint Directors of the Moët British Independent Film Awards, Tessa Collinson and Johanna von Fischer commented on the announcement saying “As submissions get under way, it is exciting for us to see some of the work and talent that will be honoured this year.
