Emmys: The Big Bang Theory Nominee Profile

This story first appeared in the August 15th issue of Tastic Film Magazine.

The Big Bang Theory one of Americas most beloved comedy shows for the last seven years has brought laughter to our screens. This year the show took to the final frontier as in the previous seventh season Howard took off into space and though the detailed work of Chuck Lorre also responsible for sitcoms including the likes of Two And A Half man and Mike And Molly the audience followed.

Lorre has created a keen sense of detail and even in the seventh season of the Big Bang he has on set scientists creating factual jargon for Leonard, Sheldon, Raj and partly Howard. Lorre also uses new techniques in the show and likes to create extremely difficult situations to film as in Howard’s rocket launch the circular cabin is a usual avoidance zone for directors given the multiple mirrors, windows and reflections.
At this year’s Emmys the show is once again nominated this time for a stunning eight categories including but certainly not limited to Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series, Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series.

For those of you who haven’t yet had the opportunity to watch an episode of the big bang theory the show focus on group of scientists two of which are flatmates Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper who are both brilliant physicists working at Caltech in Pasadena, California. They are colleagues and best friends, although in all capacities their relationship is always tested primarily by Sheldon’s regimented, deeply eccentric, and non-conventional ways. They are also friends with their Caltech colleagues mechanical engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Rajesh Koothrappali. The foursome spend their time working on their individual work projects, playing video games, watching science-fiction movies, or reading comic books. As they are self-professed nerds, all have little or no luck with popular women. When Penny, a pretty woman and an aspiring actress originally from Omaha, moves into the apartment across the hall from Leonard and Sheldon’s, Leonard has another aspiration in life, namely to get Penny to be his girlfriend.

The Big Bang Theory is certainly one to look out for at this years Emmy including the show’s lead actor Jim Parsons or better known as his character the seemingly mad scientist Sheldon Cooper who is nominated for the Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series emmy award although his hopes might be crushed as his competitors at the awards include legends and emmy icons the likes of which include Jason Bateman for Netflix’s Arrested Development, Matt LeBlanc for Showtime’s Episodes, Don Cheadle for House Of Lies and comedians Louis C.K. for FX’s Louie and Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock.

The show is confirmed for another season to raise the nation’s TV joy. The eighth season premieres on the CBS network at 8/7 central on September 26th.
