ABC Cancels ‘Revenge’ After Four Seasons

After four years ABC has canceled the Golden Globe nominated series ‘Revenge’.

Revenge follows Amanda Clarke, an emotionally troubled young woman as she makes it her mission in life to exact revenge against the high society hamptonites that framed her father for an act of terrorism.

This cancellation, which has been been lingering above the series for the past season, follows the death of two characters in the show Victoria Grayson and Daniel Grayson — leaving only Amanda Clarke, Nolan Ross and Jack Porter remaining from the original seasons cast of regular characters.

The fourth season of Revenge premiered in late-September last year and has since averaged a total rating of 1.8 and a total 7.13 million viewers amongst adults 18-49 Live + 7 Day. The show has been slipping in its ratings since last year losing just over one million viewers.

Showrunner Sunil Nayar commented on the cancellations saying “We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story. We’ve been talking to the network, and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale — which is fabulous — everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end.

ABC is expected to make a lot more cancellations, renewals and pickups announcements for its 2015-16 season as it heads into its upfronts presentation, taking place in New York City on May 12th. One pickup is expected to be ABC’s drama pilot ‘The Kingmakers’, which from Revenge writer Sallie Patrick is said to be a spinoff of Revenge with a similar premise. Kingmakers focuses on Ivy League freshman Eli as he adopts a new identity in order to infiltrate the school’s century-old secret society in order to investigate his sister’s murder.

Revenge’s lead actress Emily VanCamp, who portrays Amanda Clarke, is currently chasing a feature film career and can currently be seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier as Marvel character Agent 13 and in the independent film The Girl in the Book.

ABC is still set to air the remaining two episodes of Revenge’s final season, ‘Plea’ airing on May 3rd, and the season finale ‘Two Graves’, airing on May 10th.
