Showtime has experienced an uncontrolled security breach in the past week as after Homeland’s season three finale leaked online on Thursday last week. This morning has seen another of Showtimes primetime shows ‘Episodes’ which as of this morning has experienced major damage as after the ‘Episodes’ season three premiere was released to Showtime anytime subscribers was leaked online alongside the still not officially released second episode of the shows upcoming, January premiering, third season which was also leaked online. Although the two episodes are the only current leakes its is expected that more episodes from the third season of ‘Episodes’ will be leaked online before there broadcasts. Which will definitely be a big blow to Showtime’s ratings during premiere week in January.
The Homeland season three finale that was illegally leaked online four days ago, it was original pondered as to whether it was in fact the correct version of the third season finale, although after Sunday nights broadcast it was confirmed that it is the final cut of the episode. The leaked finale was rapidly spread across the numerous dark piracy sites across the internet, although it is certain that the Showtime network will be drastically increasing security around its pre-air content. According to Torrentfreak.com the episode was pirated across over 100,000 hotlink, embedding and file sharing sites, as of the broadcast on Sunday evening.
There is no doubt that Showtime’s ratings have been significantly damaged through these series of leaks. When we contacted Showtime about the leaked episodes of ‘Episodes’ a spokesperson left no comment. When contacted for a comment on the Homeland leak on Friday last week a spokesperson at the Showtime network also had no comment regarding the illegally leaked Showtime content circling the web.
